Coastal communities face challenges from a variety of events, including sea-level rise, storms and hurricanes, coastal erosion, coastal pollution, climate change impacts, economic challenges, infrastructure vulnerability, and community displacement. These events can threaten infrastructure, property, livelihoods, and the overall resilience of coastal communities, many of which encompass lower socioeconomic residents. Riverside is dedicated to providing support services to identify and implement solutions for underprivileged coastal communities struggling with the impacts of dramatic climate change.

In addition to support for coastal communities, Riverside also provides support services for monitoring and observing systems in deep ocean environments, including:

  • Providing advanced technology for weather and oceanographic observations.
  • Conducting geodetic, hydrographic, and topographic surveys.
  • Characterizing seafloor and associated biota habitats.
  • Assessing habitat damage post natural disasters.
  • Operating remote operation vehicles (ROVs).
  • Providing vessel support and transportation services.
  • Installation and maintenance of deep-sea observatories.
  • Data collection and analysis.
  • Remote sensing and satellite monitoring.
  • Underwater robotics and autonomous systems.
  • Data management and dissemination.
  • Research and development.
