Before/After Samples:

Balance365 - Conversation editing: On this podcast the hosts routinely invite members of their community on the podcast to talk about their story. Often, these are people who have never been on a podcast, or been interviewed. My task is to make sure the guests are presented as smoothly and clearly as possible. When a guest restarts a sentence, changes idea or otherwise takes a few seconds to get to their argument or thought, I will remove those restarts to include only a crisp and clear sentence for the final episode.

Note: I am a strong believer in not "over-editing." I will preserve the occasional "ah" or "like" if it adds context (demonstrates they are thinking, considering), or if the edit would simply be too harsh and abrupt. I always aim to preserve human inflection and the natural flow of conversation.

Destination Morocco - Sound design: I stepped in as a guest host to record this live episode, when my family and I were in Essaouira, Morocco in February of 2023. You’ll hear street music, waves crashing, seagulls hunting for food, footsteps down quiet alleys and traders selling their wares. This live tour is a great example of the power and drama of travel audio, where you can close your eyes and be swept away to the moment, your imagination mixing with the real, authentic sounds and atmosphere in your ears.

The Other Side of the Bell - Video podcasting: This music podcast is an example of how a typical video podcast is put together. I add opening and closing scenes, titles, transitions, animations and music, and then do content editing for any major cuts and scene changes. Recording platforms such as Riverside that record separate video tracks allow me to change the camera view, depending on who's speaking. Contemporary video podcasting is typically about finding an effective presentation that is also efficient and affordable.
