Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

A show note is a detailed written summary that accompanies a podcast episode. It outlines the main topics discussed and usually includes timestamped chapters so listeners can navigate key moments.

Show notes often include guest bios, links to resources, related episodes, and calls to action. They also improve SEO by making your audio content searchable on search engines like Google and YouTube. Riverside can automatically generate show notes that include a summary, keywords, takeaways, sound bites, and chapters with timestamps.

The difference between an episode description and show notes is that an episode description is short and promotional, while show notes are detailed and structured.

An episode description is designed to hook listeners in the first one or two lines inside podcast apps. Show notes provide a deeper breakdown, including timestamps, resources, guest links, key takeaways, and often a full transcript. Show notes are typically published on your podcast website and sometimes in YouTube descriptions.

Your podcast show notes should include information that improves SEO and helps listeners navigate the episode.

Include:

  • A strong opening hook.
  • Clickable chapters with timestamps.
  • A guest bio with links to their social media or website.
  • Links to books, tools, or resources mentioned.
  • A clear call to action.
  • A full episode transcript.

These elements make your content easier to discover and more useful to listeners.

You can promote your podcast using show notes by publishing keyword-rich summaries that help your SEO efforts. Search engines cannot process audio directly, so written content makes your content indexable, improving discoverability.

Show notes and transcripts also help platforms like YouTube understand your niche and topics. You can repurpose key takeaways into captions or social media posts to attract new listeners.

You can create show notes for your podcast in one click inside Riverside.

To generate show notes:

  • Upload or record a video.
  • Go to “Projects” and select your recording.
  • Open the “Made for You” tab.
  • Click “Generate show notes” under “Magic Episode”.

Once generated, you can copy and publish them anywhere you need.

To edit AI-generated show notes, copy them into your preferred document editor and refine them as needed. Riverside provides a strong first draft, but you have full control to refine the final version.

You can:

  • Strengthen the hook or call to action.
  • Adjust timestamps and chapter markers if you want to highlight a different second.
  • Add links and attributions.

If you aren't happy with the output, you can ask the AI to try again by clicking on the “Regenerate” button in your show notes box. Editing your transcript with the text-based editor before regenerating show notes can also improve accuracy.

Riverside summarizes podcast content by generating an up to 99% accurate transcript and then analyzing it with AI to extract key themes and highlights.

From the transcript, Riverside can generate summaries, titles, SEO keywords, chapters with timestamps, key takeaways, sound bites, and show notes. You can also repurpose this content into blog posts, newsletters, or social media posts by chatting with the chat-based editor, Co-Creator. Improving transcript accuracy before summarizing leads to better results.
