Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I use Riverside to record my podcast?

Wherever you want. Our web app works on either Chrome and Edge and we also have dedicated apps for iOS, android, and tablet – which open up new recording options – plus a macOS app coming very soon.

What audio and video quality does Riverside support?

Riverside records audio in 48KHz as standard. Audio quality may differ depending on your sound equipment and recording environment. As for video, you can record in up to 4K (UHD).

How come I get better quality audio and video for my podcast with Riverside?

We record everything locally, straight on the device you’re on, be it your mobile or laptop, then upload it to the cloud. That means the only thing affecting the quality of your recording is the equipment you use and the quality of your recording is maintained  even under unstable or subpar internet connections.

Most alternatives record you straight to the cloud, making the final quality dependent on the internet connection you were using. These alternatives usually compress files to reduce their size, too which further compromises their quality. We capture and upload your recording tracks at raw, highest quality footage.

Won’t local recording take up space on my computer or phone?

No no. We record you locally but immediately upload new data captured to the cloud as you’re recording. That means it’s only stored temporarily on your device. It also means minimal lag between the time you finish recording and having all your files up in the cloud.

Why is having separate tracks a game-changer for my podcast?

Having separate audio and video tracks for each participant basically means that you have raw footage to edit and use however you want. Recording everything as one track, like Zoom does, equals more compromises, e.g., parts of the audio where people speak over each other. As for video, it would either mean having a split screen all throughout or only having the shot of the person speaking each time.

How will I get my podcast recordings from my guests? Will they need to send them to me?

Your guest recordings are uploaded to your account, just like your local recording. When you're done, you'll find all recordings in your dashboard. No need to wait for anyone to send anything.

Does using the editor cost more?

No. The editor is included in all our plans.

What podcast-specific editing features does Riverside offer?

Lots. To name a few, there’s text-based editing and color-coded timeline by speaker that keep your focus on the conversation and the people having it. There’s also Magic Episode for minimal editing and faster publishing. And then there’s Magic Clips, which picks out the best moments in your episode and turns them into social clips. These are ideal for social media and can really help you grow your audience.

And why does any of this matter?

Because poor audio and video quality is what keeps podcasters like you up at night.

Webinars that mean business. But also pleasure.

Everything you need to webinar. Plus a lot more.
