In this live workshop, search specialist Tim Peakman explains how creators can be discovered through Google, YouTube and AI search tools like ChatGPT and Google's AI mode.
The video covers:
00:00 Hello and welcome to everyone who is tuning in to this Riverside Community Workshop.
00:07 And I am very excited about this one.
00:10 I believe this is the fourth of our Community Workshop series, and each one has just been really incredible to see hands-on actionable tips on different topics from different creators in our Riverside community.
00:22 And it's really going to be a session where you can take notes. We'll also be sending out a recording. and taking some notes for you throughout.
00:31 And in this session, we're going to be focusing on discoverability because that is such a big topic in this community, how to get your show in front of new listeners.
00:40 And there are a ton of ways to do that. But one of them is really through SEO search for finding people who are looking up topics that are related to the content that you're putting out there.
00:52 So that is kind of how I met Tim here, who is my guest for today. Hello, Tim.
00:58 Yeah, of course. I am really excited about this.
01:03 we're going to be talking about Tim's method for discoverability for search.
01:11 And a big part of that is many of you might have noticed now when you're Googling, you are searching for terms.
01:19 And there's kind of a new AI overview and AI summary that comes up at the top.
01:24 And I think that as there's more and more AI, something like this. There can sometimes be a worry of like, okay, I have to change my whole strategy now.
01:33 How do I do this? What am I doing? This completely fundamentally changes the game.
01:37 But what we're going to talk about in this session is how that actually creates a really unique, inspiring, really incredible opportunity for all of you here to get yourself in front of more people.
01:52 So we're to talk about the method, the strategy. and also just the concept behind the whole thing.
01:58 I am going to, Tim, I want you to quickly introduce yourself and as you are, or I don't know why I said quickly, take as much time as you'd like.
02:06 And as you are, um everybody in the chat, feel free to let us know where you're coming at us live from because as Tim was talking to me about it before we signed on, um
02:19 There is the way that AI is kind of being rolled out on different platforms really changes country by country. So it's interesting to see where everyone is tuning in live from.
02:28 So Tim, take it away. Yeah, so hey everyone, if you haven't met before, Tim from the UK.
02:35 I help people basically show up in search and help people with online business.
02:39 So typically creators who create content out in the world, but the more more people I work with, the like number one thing is to get discovered.
02:48 Like people want more traffic, people want their message out there. So I ended up just helping people in showing up in search.
02:56 So whether that is YouTube, Google.
02:59 And yeah, I've put some slides together today, but yeah, as Kendall mentioned, like as we were talking earlier, I think I've changed the title of this presentation like three times because this changes so quickly.
03:12 And I'd love to know where you are dialing in from because some of the countries, this stuff hasn't rolled out yet.
03:21 So as we're talking through in your country, may not. be available to you, but I'm going to go through ways of actually making it accessible to you.
03:31 But yeah, hopefully that makes sense. Perfect.
03:34 so, yeah, as you're just getting your slides ready, I will just say that I think that the reason also why I wanted to have a session just besides discoverability, which we also
03:43 talked about before signing on, is that there is, I was speaking at the podcast show in London on an AI panel, and there was a lot of talk about how do you keep yourself, this is
03:56 such an industry that's based on authentic conversations and personality, and so there is a, lot of ambivalence that some people are having about AI.
04:06 But I think that there is a lot of room to use and utilize AI that can really, that you can leverage to really help with your show, to get more people to see your authentic content.
04:21 So that's really what this session is gonna be about. And we're gonna go slow through it for anyone who is not so used to any of these AI tools.
04:29 So. Yeah, without further ado, Tim, let's talk about AI, let's talk about discoverability. if my slides work.
04:41 Can you see my slides? Yes I can, let us know in the chat if you guys can see them. See, like I said, Tim Pinkman from the UK.
04:49 This is the presentation with Riverside and this is all about AI search and basically the new way to rank on top of Google.
04:56 And as I mentioned, this presentation was called AI overview and then AI mode because what I'm gonna talk about in Google is the rapid rate of the new things that they're actually producing.
05:11 And this is all without using ads. So this is organic. So first of all then, this is just gonna be a quick six part agenda.
05:19 So I'm gonna talk about why we are all here.
05:23 A little bit about myself, but I'm really interested to understand where you are at with your AI journey because the rate of change in this new AI world is quite fierce.
05:35 Then I wanna talk about why Google, so why I still believe that Google is the number one opportunity to show up in AI search.
05:44 or just search in general, but then we're gonna be looking at the AI opportunity.
05:48 So what happens when Google plus their AI get together, what the sort of output of that is.
05:56 Then I'm gonna show you a few of my results that I've been getting.
06:02 Now I've got a bit of a playbook, a bit of a sort of three step playbook that you can look at and assess some of your content to see if you're going through this playbook.
06:11 And then I've got some live case studies.
06:13 These are just, my examples, like I said, there's no one right way to do any of this.
06:19 It's just, I'm sharing my examples and my case studies in the hope of helping some of you where you're at.
06:26 And then I'm gonna give you finally an action plan and then we'll have time at the end for any Q &A. So if you do have Q &A, Kendall's gonna monitor the chat.
06:35 So if you do have any pertinent questions, Kendall, feel free to. ask me what this slide means or ask me to reiterate something that doesn't make sense to anyone that's coming in in the chat.
06:46 I'd rather address some of the questions in the chat as we go. But then yes, there will be time. There will be time at the end.
06:53 So, okay. I've done... We've had four of these, so I should... I'll know that this will come up.
07:01 will the webinar be available recorded later on? And yes, we are recording.
07:07 So, you can really just feel free to watch along right now and you'll get the replay. And also, I'll send over some notes too, if there are some cool worksheets that we can make out of it.
07:17 So, you'll be getting all... Perfect. Okay, so without further ado, then section one. So why are we all here?
07:25 So those of you who haven't been following along on my channel, I've been in the British military for the last 16 years.
07:31 um I left uh probably about seven years ago now and I've been in the online business for the last 10 years, building online businesses.
07:39 So I've done everything from physical products to agencies to digital products and now I'm very much in the creator uh economy.
07:48 I actually help people build their websites, build their YouTube channels, build podcasts, and I help people show up in search. That is essentially what I help people.
07:57 That's the first thing I help people do. And if you're within this Riverside community, you likely have a uh podcast or a video podcast.
08:06 And that's going to be sort of beneficial going along on this webinar today. uh this is now just extended into AI search.
08:15 Now, A bit of a story, a of a back story. I had an aha moment. This is a few months ago. I always ask my clients or anyone I jump on a call with how they found me.
08:25 Now, if you're just starting out in online business. This may be like word of mouth or networking, someone told me recommendation.
08:34 But then as you go through and build a bit of an online footprint, you might get like, I found you on YouTube, I watched one of your videos, or I found you on Google, I read one of your articles.
08:44 And that was great. After a bit of traction in my personal rant and pete.com, I was getting those types of reactions like Google or YouTube, which is fantastic, or both really.
08:54 I found your video on Google, which is fantastic. But more recently, I have been getting people say, I found you through AI.
09:01 So they've been using AI in one form or another. And AI has been recommending me as the best solution to their problem.
09:11 Now, this was a huge aha moment for me. This was inadvertently, obviously the AI world is exploding right now, but AI is recommending people such as creators, video creators, anything like that.
09:23 But I'm to go through sort of why, why I was recommended through AI and what you can do in order to tick those boxes to get AI to recommend you.
09:34 So, yeah, go for it. we have in our Riverside community a question that says, how did you hear about the community?
09:41 And more and more, I'm also seeing that it says through ChatGPT or through AI that people are saying, which community group should I be joining?
09:50 And they're recommending ours. So really cool, really cool that it's happening. Okay, so where are you at with your AI journey?
10:00 So if you're part of the Riverside community, like I said, either creating content, running your own podcast or you're running a video podcast even better.
10:09 So this workshop will highlight the unfair advantage of content creators, especially. video content creators I'm gonna go through today.
10:16 And then I'm just curious, so where are you on that AI journey? Now I've got a little bit of a one to four.
10:23 Type one in the chat if you are a non-starter, you just haven't used AI at all yet and you're potentially avoiding it.
10:31 Type two for a beginner, if you've tried using AI before. Or type three, if you're quite confident you've used like large language models like chat GPT, Claude, regularly.
10:41 and type four in the chat if you think you're a pro, you're well versed all aspects of AI.
10:47 And if you wanted to include in that where you are in the world, because as I just touched on, this is moving so fast, it's rolling out, some of these functionalities are rolling out from country to country.
11:01 I just shared with Kendall just before we hit record. I'm currently in France and this stuff hasn't hit France yet. So it's quite interesting.
11:09 I'm going to show you a little bit at the end of this workshop what it looks like if you're coming from France.
11:16 And last week I was in Spain and Spain have all of this rolled out. So I'm going to show you what it looks like with all of this AI search rolled out.
11:24 So just chat to me, just put a message in the chat. what sort of level you are at with your AI journey and where you are in the world.
11:32 And Kendall, if you just wanted to sort of shout out a few. Yeah, I mean, we've got a lot of people across the board, a lot of twos, a lot of threes.
11:40 We've got some ones and fours in there, but I would say mainly, so far from what I'm seeing, a lot of two threes.
11:48 Maybe leaning more towards three. But a lot of responses, so this is really exciting to see. Hi, everyone. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
11:55 And whereabouts in the world are people coming in with? that's all over the board. It's the US. It's...
12:02 um I see Cape Town in there. I see Canada. Hello. Yes.
12:09 oh All over. Yeah. Okay, so then let's quickly move on to section two then.
12:16 Thank you for your responses. But this is what I get excited about. I'm quite a geek at heart.
12:24 Google is still the most visited. Still the most visited platform on the planet. And if you have a look at Google and YouTube, this is a SEMrush.
12:33 This is June, 2025. So quite recent. This is probably one of the most recent ones I could find.
12:40 billion, 96.55 billion monthly visits. That's billion. This is every month. This is not a year.
12:47 So have a look at the Google and have a look at the YouTube. if this is where most... most of the traffic is online.
12:55 So yes, Facebook, Instagram. And if you have a look at number five now, chat GPT has snuck into number five, but the big step down from Google and YouTube to then Facebook and Instagram, that's meta.
13:08 But you've gone from like 95 to 46, then a massive jump down to like nine five four.
13:14 So it's still a massive, massive chunk of the internet. Still a huge difference between one and two.
13:21 A couple of years ago, if I was to do this workshop, ChatGPT wouldn't have been on this chart, but it is probably one of the fastest growing companies now, and it is at number five and it still growing.
13:34 So if I was to do this in another year, this might look very different, but still, Google and YouTube are the most visited.
13:44 Now, I need to touch on why this is because if you didn't know, they are owned by the same company.
13:50 So Alphabet is the parent company of Google and YouTube, and it is within their interest to promote both article and video on Google.
14:01 So if you ever seen like the search engine results page, so if you just type in Google search and that search engine results page, the SERP we call it, if that has fed you more videos than articles, there's a reason for that.
14:16 Obviously they own the...
14:17 uh Google owns YouTube, but people are consuming more and more video these days. So it's more sort of uh media rich content.
14:26 Yes, there still are articles, but obviously that's articles on Google and then the videos on YouTube.
14:32 So there's a lot of cross pollination here and you will see other social platforms on here as well.
14:39 It's all about relevancy and being current. but the bulk of it is Google and YouTube.
14:46 So that is really key to understand at this point. So why optimize for Google then?
14:55 I always say online business is hard work, right? It's tough to build your own thing.
15:01 So I try and give my clients and myself the best opportunity by showing up in search engines. Now Google and YouTube are both search engines.
15:10 You may want to call YouTube a social platform, but essentially it's a search engine.
15:17 And I always like to give my clients the best opportunity by looking at organic, evergreen, and searchable. So organic, it's free to publish, right?
15:26 You could create an article and put it up on your website for Google to crawl. You could create a video uh piece of content and publish it on YouTube.
15:35 It's free to publish. All you have to do is apply yourself and spend a little bit of time learning how to do these things. but it's evergreen, so it will last for years.
15:43 So if I go back one slide, you may not be able to see this, but in the screen grab here, I've got how to use Loom to record your screen.
15:52 I do a lot of tutorial walkthroughs, how to use certain types of software, and Loom is a screen recorder.
16:00 And if you were to type into Google and please feel free to follow along and do this.
16:04 If you're using like Google Chrome as your web browser, how to use Loom to record your screen videos pop up first, because it's relevant to how to use Loom, which is a screen recorder.
16:15 People wanna watch. videos on how to do that thing, but it's also jumping over certain articles.
16:21 Now you will see my article there as well, because I put out a video and I create an article as well for YouTube and Google, but it's a lot further down the page.
16:32 So. have a think about organic, evergreen and searchable. And I always tell people to Google yourself.
16:39 If you haven't done before, it's an interesting exercise to do. You might find if you do have a very generic name like John Smith and you're in the fitness industry, you might have to do John Smith Fitness or something like that.
16:50 I've got quite a unique name. There is one other Tim Peekman in the UK. He's a doctor. He does show up quite a bit, but I've been outranking him now for quite a while.
16:59 But Tim Peekman, do a lot of...
17:01 uh stuff on Kajabi. So Kajabi is the platform that I've built my entire online business on.
17:06 So if I was to search my name, Tim Peekman, the autocomplete is something that you should be paying attention to.
17:14 So if there is something after your name, if you have a specific name, then people are actually searching that exact search string.
17:22 So Google and YouTube will try and complete your sentence. And this is actually based on previous searches. So this is search.
17:30 volume. So same for video podcasts.
17:33 So if I was to do the same for Riverside, if I was just to type in video podcasts to try and get some ideas of some of the keywords that we want to go after as a video podcast
17:42 company, if that keyword video podcast is what Riverside wanted to show for, then you could see something like on Spotify, Studio London, equipment, setup software, editing software.
17:54 There you go.
17:55 So this is kind of relevant to what you want to show up for.
18:00 So it's a really good exercise to go through just Googling yourself and then Googling your niche and you can or niche however you wanna say it.
18:10 And you can obviously do this in YouTube as well. Any search engine, search yourself, search your niche and see what comes up because you'll be surprised on.
18:19 some of the auto-complete that these search engines will give you, and this is a good idea for future content to create.
18:27 Now, as you can see in the top right of some of these screen grabs, there's a little AI mode, I will get to that.
18:33 Some of you may not see that, depending on the part of the world that you are in right now, but there are ways around that of using VPNs and so forth, so we will get into that.
18:43 So hopefully that makes sense as a... Why optimize for Google? It is the most visited platform on the planet. Yes.
18:52 um So Michael had asked how much of the audio complete is related to personal algorithm versus on the spectrum of searches.
19:04 And then Howard had asked a similar kind of question, does it make sense to do it from your own devices? Rebecca jumped in and said, doing it from incognito, what's your take on this?
19:14 All great questions. So yeah, if you wanted a more truer search, I would either use incognito or private browser.
19:25 So it's not gonna pull up any of your other searches. And this is just from what I've seen is based on search volume.
19:33 and the order is typically based on the highest down to the lowest.
19:38 There are other tools that you can embed, which I can talk about as well, which give you a little bit more fidelity in the search because it will give you a bit of an estimated
19:48 search volume and how much it is to advertise against those. But this is, from what we understand, this is the search engine's way of telling you.
19:58 what the majority of people are searching for.
20:01 Now, it may not be the exact search string because people may have continued on past like video podcasts on Spotify for X, but it's showing you trends and it's showing you volume of trends.
20:16 So this is a way of just like looking for ideas and not to do your whole content on this specific.
20:24 search string, I would include this in your title. So try and extend it. And the longer the search string, the more specific title you can get.
20:33 And that's great because the longer the search string, there's going to be less volume and or competition.
20:40 So it's just a case of how much authority you have going after what type of search strings there are. Does that make sense?
20:49 Yes, I think we can move on because I do, I want to table this question, but my question would be, okay, so you have this information.
20:57 What do we do with it? But we'll get there. Yeah. exactly. Okay, so that's just a little bit about why Google.
21:05 So if you had a brick and mortar shop, people walk into your store, you ask them what they're looking for, and it's that verbal communication.
21:14 My previous business, I run an advertising agency, and we would get loads of ad reports and look at keywords on how people found our products.
21:22 And you would be amazed on what people are actually searching, typing in the search bar. to then end up and find your, in this scenario, products and services.
21:33 we really wanna dial down in on what people are searching for in order to create content that typically would show up and serve that problem.
21:44 So, yeah.
21:46 the chat wants to share what comes up for them when they search Google, like I just did mine in the side, so I'm going to be the first to admit that I opened another tab and looked myself, it, not shockingly enough, says Kendall Breitman, Riverside.
21:59 So if anyone wants to share what there says, feel free to drop it in the chat. No pressure. Okay, so that's a little bit about Google.
22:06 So it's still massive and Google and YouTube are a monster. So the AI opportunity now, we've been seeing this over the past few months.
22:15 Typically, Google search hasn't really changed that. mean, the algorithm is changing all the time, but this is a massive shift in like 20 plus years.
22:24 The way they have updated. their AI search. So this is the opportunity that we're looking at today. And I saw this last week.
22:33 This is like a snapshot of what is going on in the AI world. There's this 24 year old kid, Matt Dicter.
22:40 I'm uh not sure if I've pronounced that right, but he got head hunted by Zuckerberg, by Meta, Facebook.
22:48 to come on board into their super intelligence lab. They offered him 125 million over four years, US dollars. He turned it down.
22:56 So Zuckerberg stepped in, offered him 250 million. I think it's 100 million in the first year, but an over a four year deal and he took it.
23:04 So this is a 24 year old kid who is demanding a quarter of a billion over four year program. employment.
23:13 That's massive.
23:13 you were trying to try and put into a bit of context, Cristiano Ronaldo is probably one of the most highest paid soccer players, football for me in the UK, in the world, 225 million a year on field and then off field he gets an extra 50 million.
23:31 But 225 million, that is one year.
23:34 But if you can just relate that these AI whiz kids who are building certain types of platforms and gen AI platforms and AI agents and everything.
23:46 They are demanding quite a hefty sum of money these days.
23:48 And this is, it's kind of like a race to super intelligence and artificial um general intelligence.
23:59 So we'll touch on that. So this is huge. This is a bit of a crazy AI world right now and it is moving very, very fast. So why do I mention that?
24:08 I'll mention some of the fundamentals. If you are just starting out, was a few sort of ones, twos and threes.
24:15 Google skills shop is a great place to go for AI fundamentals.
24:19 There's AI essentials, introduction to generative AI, and then how to sort of get the best out of any chat models, large language models, some of the terminologies.
24:28 So AI, obviously artificial intelligence. It's not, it's not human. Machine learnings is how the machine will then learn from a delivered response.
24:37 Large language models. These are your chats.
24:39 So this is your chat with Gemini, this is your chat GPT, your Claude, and then generative AI, which is basically they are generating, the AI is generating some new information.
24:52 So if we were to do a search at the end of this workshop and then...
24:59 in AI search and then do it again, we might get a completely different, not completely different, but we might get a different response or result because it is being generated each time.
25:11 And then you have AI agents. This is agentic AI.
25:14 This is basically you tell a piece of AI to go and do this task and they will go and do your shopping for you and book your restaurant and all sorts of things.
25:24 So this is really the sort of the start of quite big things with AI. And is Google Skillshare free? We got the question from Mel.
25:32 Okay. is all free. So I would recommend people, a lot of questions I get asked, I'm just like, yeah, go through these essentials, these fundamentals, and yeah, it'll give you a good grasp.
25:42 And it gives you a good grasp on like how to prompt, how to chat with a large language model to get the best response.
25:50 So at the risk of going off topics, I'm not talking about large language models in this workshop, but that is basically a skill on its own.
26:00 it's putting in the best prompt to get the best response rather than just giving it a sort of low fidelity prompt and you're just gonna get a mediocre response.
26:10 So how to structure your prompts is key and that chat would Gemini is brilliant. So putting Google together.
26:19 with AI, so combining the world's largest information database, because it is, with artificial intelligence is a huge opportunity for the future.
26:27 And this is why I would focus on, if you had an option to focus on anything AI, I would look at Gemini and Google.
26:35 And this is all around gen AIs, this is generative AI.
26:38 And Kendall, we were chatting just before we hit record, and I think there's gonna be sort of two types of people as this um race for super intelligence, if you like.
26:47 um accelerates, there's going to be people who lean into this. This is as revolutionary as the internet or people who lean away from it.
26:56 So if they've got a brick and mortar or if they've got a person to person business, AI is not going to overtake that.
27:02 But if you are largely relying on online content, not to scare you, it's a good idea to understand how this all works so you can actually leverage it for the future.
27:14 So the AI search, you could actually say it's gone now to an answer engine.
27:20 it obviously search engine optimization, SEO, people know about search engine optimization, but generative engine optimization or GEO is like the new sort of, the new phrase that's being banded about.
27:34 And you might see some pieces of content out there saying SEO is dead. SEO is not dead. It is just tweaked.
27:42 It is improved upon. So don't worry about having to change everything. We just have to understand what needs to be tweaked.
27:50 So AI in this, this is a screenshot from AI overview. And this has only been available in the last few months.
28:00 And this basically, this piece of AI code will complete multiple search queries and serve a single response.
28:08 So this search query, so what is a video podcast?
28:12 the AI overview has pulled through or has actually carried out on your behalf multiple searches and then giving you an overview.
28:21 And it's pulled multiple searches from the internet. I mean, it's still looking at well SEO'd blogs, videos, but it's actually just generating you a summary.
28:32 And you can see there's a little hyperlink m at the last, after the full stop. So you can click on that just to see where it's getting its information from.
28:41 But typically, we had the 10 blue links as it was called.
28:45 Now, if you were to do a quick search in Google, you would see like a SERP, search engine results page, would just show you like 10 blue links.
28:54 And that's like the ranking of what it's offering you up in response to your search.
29:00 Now, this AI overview appears above those. Those links are still there, but this AI overview is effectively in the new position zero.
29:11 So a lot of internet marketers are saying, the traffic online is down. I'm not getting as many clicks onto this piece of content.
29:18 It's because people are using this AI overview function and just going straight to source or just going to whatever is being promoted or recommended as an overview by AI.
29:31 So we need, as creators, need to understand how to show up in AI search. And as I think I mentioned.
29:38 You may, one, may have to update your browser if you're using, I would always recommend trying to use Google Chrome.
29:44 If you can use Google Chrome, it's probably one of the most powerful ones, but also a VPN. So this, as you see here, it says m AI mode and it says below that AI overview.
29:55 You may not see this if you're in some of the countries, and don't ask me to list the countries, that this hasn't rolled out to yet.
30:03 So like I said, I was in Spain last week, it's rolled out. I'm in France right now, it's not here.
30:09 So, m and I'll give you a sort of showcase that at the end of this. But hopefully that all makes sense.
30:18 So, yep. who is a young child now, this AI overview has saved my life a bit. I'm like, what?
30:26 How much of this should I be giving? I don't have to click any links, it's right there. God.
30:33 And just playing around with it and just typing in the search bar, you'll get to know what it's producing and what it's responding with.
30:44 And yeah, there are different things that AI Overview will show up for. And if I just typed in video podcast, it might not have an AI overview.
30:52 But if you were to type in, is a video podcast, it's a question. that this, this is Gemini in here, this is the Gemini AI is going to try and answer for you.
31:02 So if you just have video podcasts, it might just list those 10 blue links. But if you're asking a question, it wants to respond to that question.
31:11 So yeah, the two main things right now, and I'm sure by the time we finish this workshop and we...
31:19 Go our merry ways and we'll find there's another AI tool that's been published since we've been talking. It is moving that fast.
31:26 I have changed the title of this workshop a few times because it was AI overview, then it was AI mode, but actually this is all AI search.
31:36 So in Google's words, AI overview. is to get a quick snapshot of key information about a topic or question with links so you can explore more on the web.
31:45 So it's a very quick summary. So it's a quick thing. So the white background is all about AI overview.
31:53 But now they've brought out AI mode and this is for you to easily dig deeper and ask follow-up questions with your most powerful AI search experience.
32:01 So I'm gonna be demonstrating both of these and you can move from one to the other.
32:06 Say if you were just to type into the Google search bar m a question and it gives you an overview, you can then dive deeper with AI mode and then ask follow-up questions.
32:16 So it's really sort of drilling down into this core of what you are looking for.
32:22 So the future then, the future of AI search, I sort of did mention this, artificial general intelligence and artificial super intelligence, all of these companies, it's a bit
32:33 of a race to get to this first, I guess, both the sort of private sector and governments.
32:41 But currently right now, you can, I mean, on the phone, on the mobile, it's a lot more versatile.
32:49 You can obviously use voice. you can use search, you can use augmented reality, and you can use a lens on your camera phone to actually get quick responses.
33:01 So if you can't remember the name of the song, you just hum it into your phone, search what to watch for some movie, not inspiration, and it will give you some responses.
33:09 If you wanted to see what this iconic landmark is, you can then sort of have a look at it in augmented reality.
33:18 And then if you wanted to copy and paste with a camera, can, you can just take a quick snap on your lens and the AI will then grab that copy for you to then paste off or if you wanted to send where you were to a friend.
33:29 So that's kind of the way it's going. There's gonna be so much more coming out, but hopefully that's just giving you a flavor.
33:39 We all good in the chat? Moving on to... to hear how to help with all this information, what to do.
33:50 Yeah, so I have a bit of a playbook.
33:52 I've gone through, I'm constantly looking at search and constantly looking at AI search and seeing where traffic is coming from to my website and to my YouTube channel.
34:05 I've only been doing this in the last sort of few years, but this has only been happening in the last few months. So this is brand new stuff.
34:13 So I'm gonna give you three levels to actually look at. So each of these levels will help you as a creator show up in AI search.
34:24 So the first one then, and this is what I touched on earlier, people are saying SEO is dead, it's now GEO. People are like, what the hell is GEO?
34:32 So SEO is not dead.
34:35 If you wanted to 80-20 this whole thing, look at SEO because everything is built on top of search engine optimization.
34:44 So what I mean by that is it's the title, the description, your transcription, if you're doing video, how you structure your content, if you have any metadata or tags.
34:55 And this again is straight from Google. AI overviews are built to surface information that is backed up by top web results, okay?
35:04 By top web results and include links to web. content that supports the information presented in the overview.
35:11 So that's saying they pull from SEO.
35:14 So they're looking for really good SEO content, content with really clear, really relevant to whatever search it is, title, description, transcription, structure, metadata and tags.
35:28 And if you focus in on SEO, you're 80 % of the way there. But there are a few other things that I found out to be true.
35:38 And I will also even just really, really quickly jump in and say, we had another session where another creator said that even the file name right under the thumbnail, you can see
35:47 it on the right side, even the file name being how to come up with great business ideas.
35:53 Like all of those things are things that you should be thinking about SEO keywords when you're, when you're doing them, how you save your file.
36:01 yeah, this is just a snapshot from my YouTube studio. And yeah, you can see that my file name is titled um exactly the same as my video title is.
36:11 So the file 12 small business ideas to start online in 2025. So yeah, it's gonna pull that in.
36:18 We're not sure how much weight that has, I mean, if you've got an option to, exactly, if you've got an option to do that and make it, make your title as specific as possible, then do so.
36:31 So the second level that I would look at then after you've got your SEO, and now if you were to only take one thing away from this workshop, remember this, okay?
36:41 Building a blog on your own domain is hard work. it takes use of commitment and consistency.
36:47 And if you're speaking to anyone who are just blogging or copywriting specialists, then they will say, yes, it's hard work because they are building it on their own domain.
36:57 Now, if they're part of a big company and they've got a really big domain, then it might be a bit easier. So there's something called Domain Authority.
37:06 Now, as you can see here, I've used a tool called Ubersuggest. And this is, you can get a free version of Ubersuggest or Chrome extension.
37:14 and this tells you your domain authority. So as you can see, my domain at the moment right now has got a value of five.
37:23 Now this is a score out of 100. So it's saying that you've got a small website and yeah, we're giving it a score of five out of 100.
37:33 But if you were to look at other platforms like here's LinkedIn, LinkedIn has been giving a domain score of 99 out of 100, which is pretty near perfect.
37:44 but if you were to look at Google and or YouTube, they have a domain score of 100 out of 100.
37:51 So this just is the authority of where your content is coming from.
37:56 So I say this because I create every week a piece of video and I turn that video into a blog post and I publish them both.
38:06 I publish my video on YouTube and then my blog post on my website. I still have video in my blog.
38:13 and have images in my blog, but my blog can only come from a domain score of five out of 100.
38:20 So I typically see more of my videos ranking well in Google, because that's the end goal at the end of the day, over my articles.
38:30 Because, and the biggest thing is leveraged authority. So I'm leveraging that 100 out of 100 authority because it's coming from the YouTube platform.
38:39 So that right there should shift or answer some questions. I mean, if you take one thing away from this, that is key.
38:48 So this can also apply to social platforms. They will have massive authority compared to if you've just started your business, your domain over the last few years.
38:59 Yes, you have, I mean, I've got hundreds of blog posts on my domain, but it's still got a score of five out of 100.
39:05 But if you just start up a YouTube channel tomorrow and publish your first video, if it had good SEO, and it was really specific to a certain search, you would leverage that 100 out of 100 instantly, effectively.
39:19 So hopefully that makes sense. yeah, Merritt asks, so my website, it's just on screen. My website has a domain authority of 24 and my Instagram has a 94.
39:28 Does that mean I should post more on Instagram? Is that what you're saying? So I'm saying you're going to get more leveraged authority from Instagram and 24 for a main domain.
39:39 That's good. That's really, really good if that's your company. But I would do both and then test it. I would always say test and then have a look, see what the response is.
39:47 You may find that your blogs may have a longer sort of lifespan showing up in Google, but you may get um from socials, you may get a bit more exposure earlier on.
40:00 And this is why I try and look at search engines over social platforms because you get that exposure over the time frame.
40:10 over one year, two years, three years. Hopefully that makes sense. But yeah, mean, well done on getting 25, 24.
40:20 Yeah. And then I think we can keep going because there questions, but I want to make sure that we get to all of this. Yeah, no worries.
40:28 So that was level one, foundational SEO.
40:31 Level two is leveraged authority, whatever you can do to leverage the authority of other platforms, but it's obviously your content that you've published using their authority.
40:40 And then the third being high quality. So high quality media, whether it's images, whether it's video, ideally video, as you've seen, video is getting.
40:52 pushed higher and higher in search these days. But if you are, uh if you're using blog posts, try and have a multimedia approach.
41:01 Put some video in there, put some even audio, put some images. Try and have in-depth content so you're sharing what you know about a certain topic.
41:11 um And then try and be relevant to search queries. This is what I try and link back up to.
41:19 Why do we care that Google is... showing us all these auto completes. If you understand what people are searching for online, then you can create content to show up for those searches.
41:29 And then recency has quite a bit to do with it if you're updating something or if it's just been posted.
41:36 But yeah, I typically see a lot of my piece of content, they'll, I mean, they've been lasting for two, three years and they're still ranking really well.
41:44 So putting all that together, so my proven playbook, I've tried to make it as simple as possible. use my three step approach to maximize your potential to show up in AI search.
41:54 So again, looking at Google to show up in AI search results, focus on creating high quality, well structured and authoritative content.
42:04 That is easy for AI to understand and extract the information from. So it's got to be clear, over cute, and it's got to be concise and it's got to be in depth of the content that you're putting out.
42:16 So level one, foundational SEO. have a think about the title, the description, the metadata. Level two is leveraged authority.
42:24 So again, leveraging either YouTube or socials. Level three is having that high quality multimedia or video if you can.
42:32 Those three steps I've tried to make it simple.
42:34 So on the bedrock of foundational SEO, which is the, like your 80 % of the way there, then if you can leverage some authority and then make video if you can, but make high quality content.
42:47 So let's talk about some, before we get into all these questions, because there are quite a few. ah Let's give some examples. Let's go through some of the live case studies that I know that you have.
42:56 Yeah, yeah, let's do that. Yeah, so I've got a couple of case studies and then we can do some screen share and I'm gonna show you if you are in a country that hasn't got this yet what to do about it.
43:08 So the first one, I've had a look at an AI overview example. So this is like where I'm noticing people are saying, hey, I found you using search or AI or AI chat.
43:20 And all chats like large language models like Gemini and OpenAI.
43:26 and they're gonna be pulling from these SEO ranking blogs and articles. So I've just typed in here, what is Kajabi Hero Live?
43:34 So I do a lot of content on Kajabi, because I use that platform a lot. So I've done a really specific search.
43:41 it is, Kajabi Hero Live is their live event. It's a live in-person event, but I've put in a question, what is Kajabi Hero Live?
43:50 So you can see here in the screen grab, AI overview. pulls my YouTube video from search because it's giving it an overview and it's got an image there.
43:59 But as you can see here, the overview will give you a bit of a summary and then it might highlight a main video and then down the right hand rail, it will highlight some more videos and we'll go through this in the walkthrough.
44:10 But my video is top of that as well. So yes, it is a very specific search, but I knew that people were typing in like, what is Kajaba Hero Live?
44:19 So number one, it's SEO optimized. The content is... SEO optimized. Number two, I leveraged the domain authority of YouTube, which is 100 out of 100.
44:28 And then number three, I have a high-res video in here as well. So one, two, three, those are all the things that make my video rank and show up within AI overview.
44:39 So this is generative engine optimization. This has generated a result.
44:45 So nine times out of 10, you might see this, but if you were to type this in, it might show you another video because it is generating responses on the fly.
44:53 but if you were to scroll down, you'd see that my video in the search engine result page would be ranking there as well. Does that all make sense?
45:01 We're gonna go through this in a sort of live example. Yeah, let's go to the live example, I think, because I think that'll answer some of the questions.
45:09 just got one more. So then I'm having a look at AI mode. So again, this is the next step. So you've got AI overview and then AI mode.
45:18 So I typed in, as I said, I a lot of tools, how-tos and Loom tutorial.
45:25 So Loom is obviously a screen recording software. So I just typed in Loom tutorial. I didn't say like how to use Loom.
45:34 And then AI mode is serving up my video there. So AI mode suggests my YouTube video amongst others for that response.
45:41 And again, this is because it's SEO optimized, the domain authority is of 100 and it's high res video.
45:49 So let's go to a screen share. Let's exit here and then see if I can share my screen.
45:58 Can you all see my screen? Yes.
46:01 uh Okay.
46:04 So, uh let me just, so if you just go onto google.com and if you see the, there's a little AI mode at the end of the search bar, you can use all of this functionality.
46:18 But because I'm here in France, if I was to turn off, I'm currently using a VPN.
46:26 So if I was to turn that off and then just refresh this page, you might be seeing something like this.
46:32 with like no AI mode here for you.
46:36 So, I mean, if you have got your hands on a uh VPN, go and either go to the US or the UK, and then the main sort of countries that this has been rolled out to already, and then you can see AI mode.
46:50 So I'm just gonna click that, and then you can, I would say just spend time here and spend time playing around with AI search.
47:00 So. I'm going to say like, what is a... What is a video podcast?
47:09 So this is gonna, as you can see there, see how many results it's pulled. First of all, this is in AI mode, so this is the deeper one.
47:17 So if I just click in all, it's gonna give me an AI overview of what is a video podcast.
47:23 If I just typed in video podcast, it probably wouldn't pull, there you go. So if I typed in, there you go, this is why I did this.
47:31 So video podcast, if I typed in video podcast, the first, Result in the search engine results page. So there's no AI here.
47:39 This is just high ranking results is Riverside. So well done Riverside for ranking first for video podcast.
47:45 But then if you, yeah, I'm sure they know. But then when you scroll down, you have some videos that are ranking in here.
47:54 So this is suggested videos. And then if you scroll down some more, you've got some more Riverside articles in here. And then you've got some shorts pulling through from socials and YouTube.
48:03 So that's how it. used to look or still does look if you're not using uh any of this sort of AI function.
48:10 So what is a video podcast? So again, I'm giving it that question.
48:15 And just because I've made it a question, Google has used Gemini to try and answer that question because it knows a bit more about the question.
48:22 And then if I just click show more, it's gonna give me an AI overview, which is a bit of the summary and it's gonna give me this video pulled through here.
48:33 But then if I show all of these videos, think Riverside uh appear up here as well.
48:42 Well, I won't be the YouTube to the SEO team this. I'm kidding. I'll tell them the first part.
48:47 Yeah, but this is where we want to have that high ranking SEO, the board authority, and then video is obviously being showed right under the suggestions here.
49:00 So if I was to go across to AI mode using that same one, look how many it's pulling, and then it's just going to give you, there you go, so some videos from YouTube.
49:09 It's going to give you a bit more in depth uh questions and answers. and then you can actually click show all and then you can say, you can then drill down into it.
49:20 So what's the best.
49:30 What's the best video podcast software? I haven't done this, so I haven't teed this up.
49:36 Okay, so Director Suite, Descript, Podcast, Odacity Garage Band, DaVinci, there you go. So you are there.
49:45 And again, you've got people giving video reviews and here's a sort of a video podcast set up from Riverside.
49:52 So have a play around with all of this and yeah, it's going into the sort of all.
50:00 And then if you were to just type in AI search, this will give you some good.
50:06 Um good details on just having a look at what is coming in the future, a whole new way to search, here's some screen grabs that I got, ways to search, all these different ways to search.
50:21 The Google app is really versatile on your phone, tips and tricks on how to use it, download the app.
50:26 So just have a play around with this and just have a play around with using search, having a look at the AI overview and typing in either your name or your niche just to try and.
50:38 what is actually showing up in AI because that is exactly where you want to be. Awesome.
50:45 This was, I'll go through some of the questions now if that's what you wanted.
50:50 Okay, So we have a question from Kristen that says, how do we optimize metadata?
50:59 Because that is something that we went through pretty quickly. So how are you gonna optimize that? That's what the one that she is not clear on. And.
51:08 a blog or a video?
51:12 Kristen said were you re-talking about for YouTube videos she says Okay, for YouTube videos.
51:19 So first of all, I would do um quite a bit of extensive keyword research.
51:23 To 80-20 any of this, again, I um would have a look at what is being auto-populated within YouTube and then have a look at seeing how you can get those keywords, like actors, seed keywords to try and then get more keywords out of that.
51:40 Use ChatGPT, use AI to try and give you more keywords.
51:45 But the more keywords you have, You've gotta try and not keyword stuff, but make it keyword rich in terms of the title, which is the main one, the thumbnail, is also big.
51:58 What you say in your videos and the video description are the main ones because whatever you say in your videos, they're gonna transcribe it in the backend and then publish that
52:06 for Another question that we had, let me go back to it.
52:11 far um for our blog, I just put the transcript of our podcast and put a link on there from our YouTube link.
52:21 Should we be doing something different? Yeah, so I've got a few more slides to go through actually.
52:27 It was like the action steps, but if you have the opportunity to record your podcast, you could then put it as a video podcast and then put it up in YouTube as well, leveraging that 100 % domain authority.
52:41 In terms of video transcript, I would try and as we speak, get that video transcript, but.
52:50 maybe use some AI to clean that up a bit so people can easily read it. um But again, using video transcription is a great way of being um original.
53:00 So it's like you speaking in a conversation and having that as original as possible is exactly what I recommend doing.
53:08 Okay, so then for the last, we have like five minutes left to the workshop. Let's go through some of these actionable tips, because that's what we're here for.
53:16 m Yeah, so the first thing is to audit what you've already produced and to see what is already published and what is already getting traction.
53:26 And the next thing is to try and optimize what is getting views and then maybe what you can get more results for.
53:36 So first of all, it's audit. The next one is like optimize what you already have. Don't just think what you've done in the past is null and void.
53:43 You try and optimize that. and then try and have that sort of leveraged authority, include video if you can, and make sure it's a good structure.
53:53 And then plan for future content, what you can do for future content if you can have video in there, if you can have more of a structure, if you can leverage different platforms.
54:04 So audit what you already have, optimize what is getting views, and see if you can try and get more conversion on that.
54:12 and then plan for future iterations in terms of putting higher quality content out there for AI search.
54:21 Great, I have it up on the screen. um so we also have, um if anyone has any questions about those three actionable steps, let's sound off in the chat.
54:32 um But otherwise, I also just want to, in this time, go to your next slide and show that you have a free on-demand workshop if you want to talk about that.
54:42 Yeah, so if anyone wants to know my complete business model, I have an entire workshop. You can head to TimPeakman.com/workshop.
54:51 It talks about what I would do first, second, third and fourth to create a one person um solo creator business leveraging YouTube and Google and how to show up now in AI search.
55:03 Awesome. And I think with that, have we gotten to your slides? Have I missed any? Yeah, that's pretty much it. was a Q &A slide at the end, but...
55:12 got that. We're on it. Cool. Well, thank you all for bearing with me while I'm figuring out the slides.
55:20 And if anyone has any more questions, please feel free to ask them in the chat.
55:27 But actually, we have a good one that Sean had asked, and it is not too obvious. So I want to definitely highlight this.
55:36 How do you find out which What's the current popular wording of what you link to in your SEO? How are you doing your SEO research?
55:44 Yeah, so I use a, it's a great tool and I probably should have linked it up. I use a tool called Keywords Everywhere.
55:50 It's a relatively cheap tool, you buy like credits with it and as you type into the search, it will actually give you a little bit of an idea on search volume.
56:02 So if you wanted to create content that has more search volume, like more people looking for it, Keywords Everywhere, there's other ones depending on if you're totally on.
56:13 YouTube, there's like TubeBuddy and vidIQ. But if you were looking at across Google and YouTube, I like keywords everywhere, because it gives you a bit more fidelity within the search.
56:23 And then yeah, but you've just got to be made aware of that the higher the search, the more the competition.
56:30 So leverage that authority to try and go after those high search volumes.
56:36 And I've just put those all those links in the chat and we'll also be putting them in the email that we send out afterwards with this recording.
56:44 And so we have reached the top of the hour and it was, it flies. really does.
56:50 And especially when it's packed with so much information, like you came prepared with. So Tim, I really just want to say thank you so much for giving us all that info.
57:01 Of course, 10 out of 10 would do that again.
57:05 And As you all are um utilizing this method, feel free to post about in the community how it's working for you.
57:14 Feel free to work with each other, ask each other questions. You can also find Tim and I both on LinkedIn as well, if there's more that you'd like to talk about about this new method.
57:26 And so I really hope that this is something that you can all take and run with because this creates such an incredible opportunity.
57:33 So Tim, again. Thank you so much, this has been incredibly eye-opening and incredibly actionable. And thank you all for tuning in.
57:42 Thank for having me. Thanks everyone for coming on.
