Transcript

How to generate a transcript in Riverside, with 99% accuracy across more than 100 languages, and five practical ways to use it once it is ready.

The video covers:

  • Downloading TXT files by speaker or SRT files with timestamps
  • Adding subtitles and publishing transcripts alongside episodes for search engines and LLMs
  • Letting Riverside's AI find moments and create short clips from the conversation
  • Connecting Claude or ChatGPT through MCP to work with your recordings
  • Turning transcripts into show notes, blog posts and newsletters, and editing video by deleting text

00:00 Care to transcribe a recording? Well, you're in the right place. I'll show you how to do it in minutes on Riverside, then walk you through five things you can actually do with that transcript once you have it. The first two you probably already know. The last three are where things get interesting. Let's get started. You can start by recording something in Riverside or uploading audio or video you already have. Riverside uses AI to generate a transcript for you with 99% accuracy and support over 100 languages.

00:26 Once it's ready, open your recording and find the transcript. From here, you can read through it in the Editor, follow along with what was said, and download a copy. You have two useful download options. A TXT file gives you the conversation as text, separated by speaker, and SRT file includes timestamps so you can use it as subtitles for your video. That's the transcription part. Now, what can you actually do with it? The first use is probably the one you expected, subtitles.

00:51 Download the SRT file and add it to your video wherever you're publishing. It's a quick way to make your content easier to follow and more accessible. And if you're editing the video in Riverside, you can add and customize captions right there. If this recording is a podcast episode or an interview, you can also publish a transcript alongside it. That gives people another way to engage with the conversation. Someone might want to scan it for a particular topic, find a quote, or read instead of listen.

01:17 The text can also help search engines and LLMs understand what your episode covers. Those are two great reasons to have a transcript, but this is where it starts becoming useful for the rest of your workflow. Think about how much good stuff gets buried in a long recording. There might be a great answer or a funny exchange that you'd never find again unless you watch the whole thing back. Because Riverside has a transcript, its AI tools can look through the conversation, find moments that'll work well as short clips, and then actually create the clips for you to review.

01:45 You can then choose the ones you like and publish them straight from Riverside. You can also connect Riverside to a compatible AI assistant like Claude or ChatTBT through MCP. In fact, we have an entire video on this that I'll make sure to link right up here and in the description. That lets you ask your assistant to work with your Riverside content. For example, to find moments from a recording that can become clips. The transcript makes the recording something you can search and work with instead of something you have to scrub through from beginning to end.

02:12 The next use is what I do if I want to promote my content in written formats. The transcript already contains the ideas, examples, and exact words from your recording. AI can use that as a starting point for show notes, a blog post, a newsletter, social captions, or a title and description. Riverside can generate written assets from your recording directly from the transcript. Or you can use a connected assistant through MCP if you prefer working that way.

02:38 I'd still read through anything AI writes and make sure it sounds like me, but starting with the actual conversation is a lot easier than staring at a blank page and trying to remember everything I said. And finally, the transcript can help you edit the recording itself in Riverside's text-based Editor. The words are connected to the video. If there's a sentence you want to remove, you can delete it from the text and that part is cut from the recording. So if I go on a tangent here and there, I don't have to hunt for the exact start and end points on the timeline.

03:05 I can find the words, cut them, and keep moving. The same goes for tightening up a long answer or removing filler words. It makes the first pass of an edit feel a lot more like editing a document, if that's what you're comfortable with. So yes, you can use Riverside to generate and download a transcript, but once you have it, you can do a whole lot more with that recording from captions and clips to written content and editing faster. If you wanna try it yourself, you can use the link in the description to get started with Riverside.

03:32 And if you wanna learn more about recording, editing, and creating content with Riverside, I'll link a few more videos that you can check out right up here and in the description down below. Be sure to like this video and subscribe for more content just like this. And as always, if you have any questions about transcription or other Riverside-related stuff, leave them in the comments and I'll be happy to answer them personally. Thank you so much for watching and we can't wait to see what you create.
